German Street Photography Festival
The third German Street Photography Festival for contemporary street and documentary photography took place for the second time as part of PHOTOPIA Hamburg in Hall A4 on an area of around 150 sqm. In terms of content, the focus of the festival was on the presentation of inspiring lectures, the professional exchange of genres, street photo walks and a current exhibition on contemporary street and documentary photography.
The theme of this exhibition was "Wandel / Change" and documents different positions of various photographers in the style of artistic street and documentary photography, who reflect the current social and political change in different areas, such as mobility, climate change, individuality, health, work, changes in public space, etc. by means of snapshots from everyday life.
After the very successful previous events of the German Street Photography Festival in 2019 and 2021, the festival has established itself as a lighthouse project for contemporary street photography from Germany and makes this genre accessible to a wider public and the art world.
The founders and curators of the festival are the internationally renowned German street photographers Siegfried Hansen, Marco Larousse and Martin U Waltz. They are also co-authors of the book "Street Photography - Made in Germany" and editors of the German Street Photography page.
This year, the German Street Photography Festival is supported by the online platform MPB for buying and selling photo and video equipment as the main sponsor and supporter.
