At PHOTOPIA Hamburg, the winners of the Blende 2022 were presented in the Blende Photo Gallery - Photoindustrie-Verband (PIV)
The Blende photo competition - Germany's largest photo competition in cooperation with print and online media - has been offering all photo enthusiasts a forum to demonstrate their photographic skills for almost 50 years. The two-stage competition is aimed at amateur and hobby photographers throughout Germany. In the categories "Character Heads", "Fascination Forest", "Macro Photography" and "Creative Reflections", the media partners first chose their favourites. Then the winners were forwarded to the national finals. A high-calibre jury of professional photographers, experts and industry representatives then determined the overall winners of the 48th Blende Photo Competition organised by the Photoindustrie-Verband (PIV). For the first time in 2022, an AI was used in addition to the expert jury in the judging of the Blende Photo Competition. The "Special Prize AI by Excire" is the first AI competition of its kind worldwide! All pictures submitted to the four main categories could additionally participate in the special category if desired. For this purpose, the Pattern Recognition Company GmbH with its Excire technology, an AI software for image management developed in Germany, could be won as a partner.
