World Press Photo Award
2023
The exhibition is presented by GEO and STERN at the Altonaer Museum from September 13 to October 9, 2023 as part of the 1st Hamburg Press Freedom Week.
Every year since 1955, the World Press Photo Foundation has honored the best international press photographs of the respective previous year with the World Press Photo Award. The topics of the largest and most renowned competition of this kind range from the documentation of political conflicts and armed conflicts to the photographic depiction of challenges and problems of the climate crisis to reportages from the everyday life of different societies. The award-winning photographs are shown in a traveling exhibition that has now made stops in more than 100 cities in almost 50 countries and has been seen by more than a million visitors around the world. The magazines GEO and STERN have been presenting the exhibition in Hamburg for over 25 years - this year, the award-winning images will be on display for the second time at the Altonaer Museum as part of the 1st Hamburg Press Freedom Week.
