Powerhouse for creatives

The new Xperia 1 IV is the world's first smartphone with a true optical zoom lens. It enables slow-motion shooting in 4K at 120 frames per second (fps) with all lenses, as well as first-class photo features.

The Xperia 1 IV is equipped with three lenses: a 16mm ultra-wide-angle lens, a 24mm wide-angle lens, and a true optical telephoto zoom lens with a focal range of 85-125mm. All lenses feature a proprietary Exmor RS for mobile image sensor with 12 megapixels and a readout speed of up to 120 bps. This means the Xperia 1 IV supports up to five times slow-motion shooting in 4K at 120 BpS, real-time eye-detection autofocus, and real-time photo tracking with each lens. The combination of a 3D iToF sensor for depth sensing and artificial intelligence (AI)-based scene recognition also makes it possible to focus and track subjects precisely, even in low-light conditions. The ZEISS optics have been specially calibrated for Xperia and feature a T* anti-reflective coating.

The front camera is also equipped with a 12-megapixel image sensor, which is larger than that of the predecessor. The sensor minimizes image noise in low light and enables selfie shots in 4K HDR.

The Xperia 1 IV centrally combines all settings for videos with Sony Videography Pro. Thus, settings like focus, exposure and white balance can even be adjusted during the recording.

Fast scenes as well as videos with up to five times slow motion can also be captured and played back with the Xperia 1 IV and can be recorded with 4K HDR and 120 BpS thanks to the new function via all lenses of the triple main camera. Optical SteadyShot with FlawlessEye8 makes it easier to capture smooth, blur-free videos. In addition, the Xperia 1 IV supports eye AF and object tracking for videos, so subjects are always in sharp focus.

In addition, the smartphone also features a multiframe function for video recording, which makes it possible to record videos with a wider dynamic range without compromising the resolution. In addition, the Xperia 1 IV allows seamless zooming from ultra-wide to telephoto perspective, opening up additional creative possibilities.

The Xperia 1 IV simplifies live streaming while improving quality. When using Videography Pro during live streams, the device supports eye-detection AF and object tracking. Connecting the smartphone to Sony's Vlog Monitor, available as an accessory, allows content to be streamed in even higher resolution by using the main camera instead of the front camera. Alternatively, high-quality videos can also be streamed from a compatible Alpha camera and the Xperia 1 IV can be used as an external monitor.

In photo mode, the smartphone offers continuous shooting at 20 fps and AE (Auto Exposure)/AF tracking in HDR with all three lenses. Furthermore, the Xperia 1 IV comes up with an AI-based white balance.

The Xperia 1 IV can be used to create content with a cinematic look. Cinematography Pro "Powered by CineAlta" allows you to record movies with parameters and color settings similar to those of professionals. The triple main camera supports 4K recording at 120 bps frame rate and up to five times slow motion. In addition, the new multiframe feature, now available when shooting movies, enables video capture with a wider dynamic range without sacrificing resolution.

The 6.5" (16.5 cm) 4K HDR OLED display with 120 Hz refresh rate in 21:9 format is 50% brighter than that of the previous model16 and features real-time HDR, which improves visibility in bright and dark areas in very low-light environments. The Xperia 1 IV is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Mobile platform, which supports 5G20 and Wi-Fi 6E21, and offers 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of ROM. The 5,000 mAh battery features Qi charging as well as a fast charging feature that charges the battery to 50% in 30 minutes. Thanks to Corning Gorilla Glass Victus on the front and back, as well as IP65/6824 (water and dust resistant), the Xperia 1 IV is robust.

The new smartphone with the characteristic super-slim and super-matte design will be available in three color variants - black, white and purple - in stores from mid-June 2022 for 1,399 euros. For all those who purchase the Xperia 1 IV in the period until June 30, 2022, there is the Xperia 1 IV in a bundle with the WH-1000XM4 noise-canceling headphones from Sony.
