PHOTOPIA: The leading event for photography and imaging

PHOTOPIA Hamburg, which will take place for the fourth time from 10 to 13 October 2024, offers far more than just the presentations of its exhibiting companies with its comprehensive festival program. The positive feedback from the leading players in the photo and video industry shows that PHOTOPIA is already perceived as the most important platform for imaging in Europe.

"Highly satisfied exhibitors, top marks for the supporting program and an audience that is enthusiastic about technology and art - PHOTOPIA is the festival for everyone who deals with content creation in business or in their free time," says the Hamburg Messe und Congress team, announcing PHOTOPIA 2024.

The exhibitors at the PHOTOPIA Summit in 2023 included well-known camera and lens manufacturers such as Canon, Fujifilm, Leica, Nikon, OM Systems, Sigma, Sony and Tamron. Leading companies and brands such as CALUMET Photographic GmbH, Dedo Weigert Film GmbH, GroTura GmbH, Hahnemühle FineArt GmbH, Insta360 GmbH, Voigtländer and Silverlab Solutions GmbH were also present. Start-ups such as Neurapix, Photomyne and Excire have also discovered PHOTOPIA as a worthwhile platform for presenting their products and services in the AI segment.

New: Content Creators World

The festival team is currently working on a number of innovations for the public and exhibitors. For the first time this year, the Content Creator World will be located directly in the center of Hall A1 as a networking platform on the topics of content, creativity and social media. A Creator Stage is planned with expert talks, insights and hands-on tools as well as exclusive master classes and workshops. Exhibitors and sponsors will have numerous opportunities to present their campaigns and products to content creators, who are becoming an increasingly important target group.

Voices from the industry:

Rainer Führes, Canon Germany: "As a supporter and partner from the very beginning, we are particularly pleased that PHOTOPIA is bringing the imaging world together in Hamburg for the fourth time to celebrate the fascination for images. It is already a jour fixe for the entire industry and all fans of photography and videography. We are already looking forward to PHOTOPIA 2024."

Due to the increase in visitor numbers compared to the previous year, Fujifilm is also very satisfied with the development of PHOTOPIA. Bernd Gansohr, Managing Director FUJIFILM: "The high number of trade partners on B2B Day was particularly pleasing and we had a lot of good discussions."

Falk Friedrich, Leica Camera Germany, is also certain: "PHOTOPIA has clearly emerged as the leading event for us and for the industry. We are very satisfied with the development of PHOTOPIA, both with the significant increase in visitors in general and with the quality. A noticeable number of content creators and young agencies visited our stand. The increased proportion of European guests from Greece, Austria and Switzerland was also pleasing. We will definitely be back in 2024".

A statement shared by Frederik Lange, Sony Germany: "PHOTOPIA is a successful, exciting imaging festival. Sony is proud to have been able to accompany the event and its positive development from the very beginning. This year, we will once again be presenting our new products and innovative technologies in the photo and video sector to a wide audience."

The Hahnemühle FineArt Group has also been an exhibitor from the very beginning. CEO Jan Wölfle:
"We've been there right from the start. The number of visitors has increased and the public is very interested. We will be back in 2024."

Alexander Nieswandt, Managing Director of WhiteWall, is also certain: "We felt absolutely at home at PHOTOPIA in Hamburg. The atmosphere is very pleasant and the audience is a colorful mix. We are looking forward to the fourth PHOTOPIA."

Peter Giesen from Nikon Germany is also "totally enthusiastic about the trade fair". "PHOTOPIA is a trade fair with a future".

Dragan Gogkovic, consultant for photo and cine at Sigma: "It's great, simply great. The execution, the organization, the great professional audience. We are thrilled. The offer is well received by the visitors. We will definitely be back."

"PHOTOPIA has asserted its place in the imaging scene," says Guido Forsthövel, BenQ Germany. "We are completely convinced by the concept. PHOTOPIA enables us to present our product innovations in a spectacular setting and gives our experts the opportunity to share their knowledge of photography, videography and content creation with interested visitors."

Hubert Eiter from Aqipa offers products from brands such as Polaroid, GoPro, GoView and XGIMI, which visitors were able to test in action at Container Running. "Our decision to go to PHOTOPIA with our partners was the right one. The festival offers many visitors a unique experience."

Feedback on the AI CENTER

One of the most important topics at PHOTOPIA in 2024 will once again be artificial intelligence: "We were overwhelmed by the number of visitors to PHOTOPIA and the interest they showed in AI," says Petra Vorsteher, founder of AI.HAMBURG and initiator of the AI CENTER, which will once again offer start-ups a platform for their applications in 2024 - from AI-supported image processing and deep learning algorithms to automatic image recognition and curation.

Erhardt Barth, founder and CEO of Excire, confirms: "The AI CENTER provided an ideal stage for us and generated more visitors than at the last Photokina in 2018. The trade fair not only attracted enthusiasts and professional photographers, but also made us more attractive to potential partners who are interested in our advanced AI technology."

For Timo Pape, Director Communications Neurapix, the presence in the AI CENTER was also a complete success: "The interest in detailed explanations and technology demonstrations was huge. Together with the organizers and other AI companies, we pursued the same goal: to create business solutions based on AI that make the lives of photographers easier."

Photomyne is also contributing to this: "The AI Center at PHOTOPIA was a fantastic platform for us to introduce ourselves to a broad audience, receive valuable feedback and have stimulating discussions with the participants. During the event, we were able to get in touch with various AI-focused companies and identify potential partners who could open new doors for us," says Mickey Atir .

Comments on the conference program

Creating new connections and networks is also the aim of the PHOTOPIA conference program, which will once again present the B2B conference ImagingExecutives in 2024. Organizer Thomas Blömer from C.A.T.-Publishing: "PHOTOPIA offers a unique combination of festival, trade fair and information and networking platform. Our B2B conference ImagingExecutives brings together top-class participants from industry, specialist retailers and service providers."

For professional photographers and all those who want to become one, the Creative Content Conference will provide information and inspiration as part of the festival for the fourth time. The format has established itself and, in cooperation with leading professional associations and top experts in professional photography, is an integral part of PHOTOPIA. "The great response to the topics of artificial intelligence in photography, creativity, self-marketing and the further development of the photography business as well as outstanding speakers have shown that this conference format is in tune with the times," says co-organizer Thomas Gerwers.

The photo and video artist and AI expert Boris Eldagsen is once again scheduled as one of the top speakers: "The Creative Content Conference is the platform for discussing the relevant topics in professional photography and image production across associations and industries. With top-class guests, it highlights trends and developments and provides valuable guidance for anyone who wants to earn money with images in the future."
