Off for CL/TL2 system

Leica says goodbye to its system cameras with image sensors in the APS-C format. The Leica T (701) introduced the L-mount in 2014, which is also used by the Leica SL full-frame system. This was followed by the Leica CL and Leica TL2 models, which are now being phased out.

The official statement from Leica Camera AG on the discontinuation of the CL/TL2 system: "In the overall photography market, a decline in sales of compact and system cameras with smaller sensors has become apparent in recent years. In comparison, the segment of cameras with larger sensors is developing particularly positively and is showing increasing growth. This development has prompted Leica Camera AG to discontinue the CL/TL2 system and to adapt strategically to the changed market. The company will join forces and focus more on full-frame cameras.
Leica Camera AG continues to be convinced of the high-quality performance of the CL-/TL2- system and will therefore offer its CL-/TL2- system customers comprehensive support for another six years from the date of purchase."
