Firmware update for SL system

A recent firmware update enables 12-bit RAW video output specifically for the Leica SL2-S and integrates other improvements for the SL system.

Firmware version 3.0 for the Leica SL2-S enables output of a Cine 4K RAW signal at up to 60 frames per second via HDMI to external recorders. This means that it is now possible to record a 12-bit RAW format with recorders such as the Atomos Ninja V, the Atomos Ninja V+, or a Blackmagic Video Assist 12G HDR. The raw files are absolutely clean and offer maximum dynamic range, color accuracy and detail for a professional workflow.
In addition to firmware version 3.0 for the Leica SL2-S, the Leica SL2 is also receiving a firmware update to version 4.0. Together, both updates also provide these optimizations and innovations for photographers and videographers: The ISO sensitivity of the sensor can now be determined directly via the thumb dial or the front dial. In addition, it is now possible to set the time until the Wi-Fi connection is automatically switched off (Wi-Fi Sleep mode). Another new feature is the ability to rate pictures and videos using the joystick.
Furthermore, additional functions for lenses of the L-mount alliance are supported, and more functions can be enabled for direct access via the FN button. The geotagging functionality via Leica PHOTOS app has been improved, the AF metering method Person Detection now also allows the selection of an eye to be primarily focused, the ISO sensitivity can be set even finer in half EV or third EV steps in the future, and the energy-saving mode can be completely deactivated after a successful firmware update so that the AF system shutdown can be disabled during recording via HDMI.
There are two other exciting new features in photo mode in particular: For example, in the future it will be possible to quickly switch the AF measurement area between the last position used and the center of the image. There is also a preview function for exposure and depth of field.
Firmware Update 3.0 for the Leica SL2-S and Firmware Update 4.0 for the Leica SL2 are available online on the respective product page.
