Enda Burke - Homebound

Enda Burke, 34, is an artist and photographer living in the west of Ireland. With his series Homebound he was awarded third place in the Best-of-Best 21/22 at the >ProfiFoto New Talent Award<.

"When Corona came along, I couldn't do street photography anymore. So I decided to focus the camera on the people I saw every day, which was my parents," Enda Burke said. "I decided to build sets and focus on my parents as protagonists. That's how the idea for Homebound with my parents came about. Covid was a dark time full of gloom, and I wanted to provide an anecdote to that. Humor is an important part of life, and I wanted to put as much humor into each photo as possible. The idea to work with nostalgic and vintage themes, props and electronics came to me when I read an article about people using nostalgic thoughts to try to escape the aftermath of the pandemic, at least emotionally."
Enda Burke studied Fine Art at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin and graduated from Grays School in Aberdeen, Scotland with a Bachelor of Art in Photography and Film. His work, which has won numerous awards, has been featured in various contemporary photography publications.
